        The iBeacon (Bluetooth) technology was released by Apple Inc. in 2013. It is used for indoor positioning. Through the combination of software and hardware, it greatly improves the accuracy of indoor positioning, enhancing it from the original accuracy of several hundred meters or dozens of meters to within one meter. Principle of bluetooth positioning

 

The principle of Bluetooth positioning is based on the triangulation algorithm. By using the signal strengths of three or more Bluetooth devices with known location information, and through some other auxiliary methods such as the weighted average method, time-weighted algorithm, inertial navigation method, Gaussian filtering algorithm, etc., the current location can be calculated.

UWB Positioning(Ultra widebrand)

 

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology is a carrier-free communication technology that uses nanosecond-level non-sinusoidal narrow pulses to transmit data, so it occupies a very wide spectrum range. Traditionally, positioning technologies such as those based on WiFi and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) determine the position of an object according to the strength of the signal. The signal strength is greatly affected by the external environment, so there is a relatively large error between the positioned location of the object and its actual position, resulting in low positioning accuracy. In contrast, UWB positioning adopts broadband pulse communication technology, which has extremely strong anti-interference ability, reducing the positioning error. The emergence of UWB positioning technology has filled the gap in the field of high-precision positioning and can provide centimeter-level positioning accuracy.

Principle of UWB Positioning

 

The principle of Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) positioning is adopted for the estimation of the position. The UWB positioning technology is utilized to measure the time difference of the propagation of radio signals between the positioning tag and two different positioning base stations, so as to obtain the distance differences of the positioning tag relative to four groups of positioning base stations. The coordinates of the tag are calculated by using the following equations.
